Of course, she is still the baby champ, as her "fussiness" is really just mild complaining. She loves to giggle and squeal, loves to watch her brother and sister, greets daddy and mommy with big smiles, and grabs at what she wants. Her favorite toys are actually her toes currently, but she also loves her lion and her butterfly/bee. (We aren't sure what it's supposed to be, but she loves it.) She also rolls way onto her side, but has not rolled all the way over yet.

Violet is 5 months old
Within one week of turning 5 months old, Violet cut her first tooth and dropped her third nap. These two things have changed a big portion of our day. Vi used to take 3 naps averaging anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours each, with the longer ones earlier in the day. But suddenly she decided that she didn't want to sleep at all for a third nap. And now we are all learning how to have her awake for a very long stretch from about 2:00 until she goes to bed between 7 and 8:00. She doesn't want to sleep, but she isn't necessarily super happy to be awake. She seems to be getting enough sleep over all, since she sleeps 11 hours, sometimes 12 at night, and her two naps easily give her another 5 or 6 hours total. But yes, having her awake from 2:00 until bedtime presents some challenges. Couple this with teething, and you can see how things are a little different around here.

Eden's World
Lately, Eden and Sebastien have been very into pretending. Mostly they pretend to be characters from their favorite shows. It is great fun to listen to them recite scenes, pretty close to word for word.
When Eden does this, she is all in. For about a week straight she referred to me only as "Isa the Iguana." I really do mean only, at night she would say "Good night, Isa the Iguana." When I came home, she'd greet me with "Isa the Iguana, you are back!" When she sat in timeout, and I gave her the "You are in time-out because...." she would reply with "Sorry Isa the Iguana." It wasn't just me. Sebastien was always Dora, she (Eden) was Boots, and Daddy was Benny. One day when we were home, the phone rang and she said, "You better get that, Isa the Iguana, it might be Benny." Even Violet had a role, Eden called her "Baby Swiper."
Well, now the game shifted, and I became Mrs. Sparklenose. Eden is Goneagain. Sebastien is now Blog, Adam is Niblet, and Violet is Baby Abby. (Not to be confused with Eden's big cousin Abby, who is an actual person. Not a puppet or a cartoon.)
Sometimes at night when I am kissing her goodnight, she starts to say "Mommy" and then she quick switches to Mrs. Sparklenose. And sometimes I long to be called Mommy again. But I do appreciate the sweetness of getting to be involved in her play, and taking on such an important role as being the Mrs. Sparklenose to her Goneagain, and the Isa to her Boots.
Who will I be next week? Who's to say. I can't wait to find out!
